Birth Doula Services
It is important to The Doula Group that each family we work with has a joyful memory of their birth experience. Our Birth Doulas want you to find your own voice and speak up about what aspects of your desired birth are most important to you. We will help you to do this by offering you evidenced-based information about important choices you may have to make before, during, and after the birth of your baby. We also want your labor and delivery to be as comfortable as possible, so our doulas will provide education, demonstration, and instruction during the pre-birth visits. When a woman feels safe, nurtured, and relaxed during labor and birth, families can have the birth experience they want and deserve.
Our Birth Doula Services Include:
- 1 prenatal consultation at no charge
- 1-2 pre-birth visits
- Assistance in preparation of birth plan
- Discussion of comfort measures which include: relaxation breathing, optimal pre-birth and labor positioning, visualizations, hypnosis and affirmations for labor and delivery
- Breastfeeding education
- Plus any other topics you want to discuss or need additional information on
- Availability 24/7 for phone support
- Continuous support throughout your labor and birth from the moment the doula is called and her presence is requested. Our doulas offer labor support at your home before you travel to the hospital.
- After you deliver our doulas will stay 1-2 hours, helping with initial nursing
- 1 Postpartum visit, taking place within the first week after birth
- Birth Photography/Birth Notes
Postpartum Doula Services
Postpartum doulas promote happy, healthy, and close families. Our postpartum doulas will help you and your partner find your own way as parents by providing you with research-based information, answering questions, and showing you different techniques to help care for your newborn. We will work with you extensively with many aspects of breastfeeding, demonstrate soothing techniques, and pay special attention to you and your partner by making sure your are getting rest and eating nutritious meals. When a family is nurtured they are better able to care for themselves and their new baby.
Our Postpartum Doula Services Include:
- Emotional support and guidance
- Breastfeeding education and support
- Assistance in choosing and using breast pumps
- Assistance with baby carriers and slings
- Newborn care, suggestions, and guidance
- Instruction in bathing, swaddling and soothing techniques
- Preparation of family meals and snacks
- Grocery shopping
- Locating and referring appropriate resources
- Light housekeeping including washing and folding laundry, washing dishes and emptying dishwasher |
